Update

No pictures to post today. The weather has really set us back the past week and a half. They were able to put up the forms for the garage walls and porches today and pour the concrete. Now, we just have the porch and garage floors to do and the concrete will be done. The framer is raring and ready to start Monday afternoon, so hopefully, the weather will allow that plan.

Pouring Concrete

The boys were excited to see all the cement trucks working on the project. There were a total of four trucks there at once, lined up ready to dump the concrete. They poured the walls in just under 3 hours. It was fun to watch! They should take the forms off on Friday and hopefully, pour the floor on Monday. Then, they will do the garage and porches. The target date to start framing is April 26 (we're only 11 days behind our intended schedule--not bad).

Forming the Walls

We are happy to sub out this part of the project! The forms are nine-feet tall, which will provide a good basement ceiling height, minus the 4" floor and the duct/ceiling.

The Footings

The footings were poured on Thursday, April 8, 2010. After sitting for the weekend, they should be ready to put up forms for the walls on Monday, the 12th. It's exciting to see it shaping up in real life, and not just a computer image.

Easter Egg Fun

Cousins Sam and Benson John joined us for our annual Easter egg dying day. Ethan, Erik, and Garrett couldn't wait for this day! Leah and Janna were great helpers!

The Finished Hole

In a matter of hours, the hole is dug and ready for the concrete, which should be going in next week sometime.

Breaking Ground

Today we broke ground! I can't believe we are actually doing this! Never did I think we would build a home. After our home addition project, we were sure we never would! I've learned to never say never. We are so grateful for this opportunity and the adventure that lies ahead this summer. We are excited to live in such a beautiful area! The kids of course cannot stay off the piles of dirt. It's a paradise for them! The guy running the loader came up to me at the end of the day and told me instead of taking pictures, I should be out buying laundry detergent!
