We Have Trusses!

Today, the trusses were installed. It really was amazing, considering Franklin had to build new trusses that actually fit. Our framer, Tyler Bair, is the go-to guy! He really has done a fantastic job of running the show, even though he is technically just the framer. He has taken charge of things, like the truss mess up, and kept things going. If you know of anyone in the Magic Valley needing a builder, we highly recommend him!

A Setback

Just when things were going so smoothly.... The trusses were set to go on yesterday; then it was postponed to today; today, they were postponed to Monday--that's just when the crane was available--no big deal. Then, the framer realized today that the trusses were made wrong. They have been sitting on the site for 10 days and were the wrong size all along. A push is being made to have the new ones ready by Monday, but that is probably a dream. Oh, well. Steve and I are going to start on the electrical in the basement tomorrow. We can't run wire until the roof is on, but we can nail on boxes and drill holes for the wire. At least we can keep forging ahead on our part.

The Main Level

The main floor is now framed. Tomorrow, they will start nailing the sheathing on the outside. Friday, the trusses are going up. Ethan and I will start nailing on light boxes in a few days. The work is about to begin!

The Garage

We now have a framed garage. It was so fun to walk through the house tonight and see the rooms. They are almost done framing the main floor. Some things are bigger than I thought (the entry, the laundry room); others are smaller (the living room). But, overall, I am thrilled!

Taking Shape

The weather if finally cooperating and the house is looking like a house. The framers are really making good time now. The window is the view from the dining room. I am so excited!

Floor Joists

The framers started putting on the floor joists today. I thought they would have been able to do all of them, but I guess they're not as anxious as I am. Nevertheless, progress has been made!

Janna's Ballet Perfomance Award

Janna was judged in her first Ballet Perfomance Awards this past weekend. She started ballet in January and has made a lot of progress the past few months. She earned a silver medal, which she has proudly worn all weekend.

The Framing Has Begun!

Finally, we are making progress! The weather has been something else this spring! Despite the wind, rain, wind, snow, and wind, things are starting to happen! Hopefully, the floor joists will be put on today (if last night's SNOW didn't set them back).
