Bountiful Baskets

I signed up for a produce basket from a food co-op that is just starting in Burley. here is the produce I received for $15. I was impressed with the amount and quality. Too bad I had a lot of these veggies already in my garden. But the fruit was great, and my next door neighbor was more than happy to receive my excess. Each week, you have the opportunity to sign up for a basket that is delivered to a designated location each week. You take your own basket and fill it with the produce they purchased that week. It's kind of a fun thing! It will give us an opportunity to try new things (like these anaheim peppers).

Daddy's Boy

Maybe it's because he's the youngest, but we just can't get enough of Trent! We all think he's so darn cute! He turned one on the 14th of July. We're sure glad to have him in our family!

Grandpa's Tractor

The boys love riding Grandpa Baker's homemade tractor. Erik is pretty proficient at driving, while Garrett is always ready to go along for the ride.

July's Progress

I can't believe it's been over a month since I've updated what we've been doing. The drywall is almost done upstairs. We are hopefully starting the trim on Monday (we decided to sub that out, shawoo!). The cabinet maker has started on the cabinets. Do you think we have any chance of being done by September 30th to get the homeowner's tax credit? Talk about crunch time! The house is already done and the girls' room is already a disaster! The Roof

I haven't been good about taking a lot of pictures lately, but we were out at the house Friday night and these are some I snapped. The roof is almost done. We just need to finish a little patch where we ran out of shingles and then do the ridge vents and ridge shingles. Steve's cousin in coming up this week to help us finish it off. The plumbing is all but done (it should be finished today) and Steve is working feverishly to finish the electrical. We have had a couple of guys volunteer to help us do the electrical, which has been such a blessing. The goal is to have the electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and framing inspections done this Wednesday, then do the insulation Wednesday afternoon, then start the sheet rock on Thursday. Kind of an agressive goal, but it will be fun to shoot for! The sheet rocker said it would take him about a week and a half to do the sheetrock. If Steve can get the finish trim up and we can paint the trim, closets, and ceiling before he leaves for Alaska on July 25th, then I can spend the week painting walls while he's gone. We'll see!!

Beginning to Roof

Steve's cousin, Gerry Heaton, came up from Orem to help us put on the roof. The rain finally let up this afternoon and they were able to start putting on the underlayment. Tomorrow, the plan is the shingles.

Taking Shape

In spite of the weather, the framers have been hard at work this week. The sheathing is almost done and we plan to start the roof on Monday. Steve will work on the plumbing this weekend. So fun to see it take shape! The kids found a vole in the basement this evening--the joys of country living are already beginning!
